"Are you kidding?" When she was satisfied that he was, indeed, coming inside, Kate stepped away and moved toward the kitchen, carefully walking backward for a couple of steps. "I'm fairly sure that my blood is mostly caffeine at this point. There's no going back." Seeing Billy smile made her smile in turn; it was catching, maybe because she hadn't seen that particular smile in so long. She was familiar with the sardonic twist of his lips, with wry smirks... less so with real smiles. They were extremely pleasant.
"I couldn't let you see the place all cluttered up," Kate offered in response; not something she would have said, usually. "But there are still plenty of boxes in the other rooms."
