Though she had many more important things to do - checking up on Detective Warda, for example - Daryl finally yielded and returned to her apartment to clean up the mess that so strangely offended Jane. It hadn't taken long, twenty minutes at the most, and by the end she had managed to convince herself that she was doing this of her own will. Yes, Daryl wanted the apartment clean, not Jane. She was doing this as a great favor because it was her will, not because she was being told to do it.
After cleaning up, she settled on the couch and began reviewing the Alphabet Killer files. The trail seemed to have gone cold over the last few weeks, but she had far from given up. She continued to scour the pictures and notes, hoping to find something that she had missed. Time became something that was made up, a falsity. After an hour, her stomach began to roar. It wasn't a grumble, and it wasn't a murmur - it was screaming for food. With a sigh, she stood - leaving her notes and pictures strewn on the floor in a semicircle - and headed towards the kitchen. As she passed her bedroom, she paused, recalling that Detective Warda may have sent her a forum message informing her of her well-being.
Once she saw that she did not have such a message, Daryl prepared to leave before recalling that she hadn't checked on their finances in a while. Ignoring her own bank account - she so rarely did anything with it - she immediately logged into Jane's. After three years, her roommate had finally stopped trying to keep Daryl out of her private dealings. It made her job much easier. Scrolling through the accounts page, Daryl noticed something odd. Twenty thousand dollars had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Wrinkling her nose, she looked to where it had come from: Worth Financials.
She spent the next fifteen minutes scouring the internet for Worth Financials and all it entailed. It was easy work, which she quickly traced to one Penelope Worth. She ran the company and was currently located in the Thomas, Inc. office. What was this? Was Brandon using his financial backer as a means of paying off a doctor? But for what reason? Perhaps he was paying Jane to alter his drug tests, that was a possibility. Or maybe something more sinister. She had to find out.
Luckily, the front door opened at just that time. Leaving her computer, she hurried to it, no longer caring to mention that she had cleaned the kitchen. The second she saw her blonde roommate in the doorway, she fixed her with a hard stare, speaking up immediately. "What are you doing for Thomas Brandon?" she demanded.
