Somehow between having the most infuriating conversation with her foster parents, to-date, about how she should still check in with someone even though she's legally an adult now, and begrudgingly contacting her foster parents' choice of responsible adult figures in her life, Dottie Pendragon ended up on Eric Mauer's doorstep. She had never been to his apartment before, but the foster parents had left her with the directions to The Aubade and both Eric and Alex's unit numbers when they last visited her, before the start of the school term. To be honest, Dottie hadn't actually planned on paying the boys a visit, but talking to them on the forums reminded her that they friends beyond the boundaries set up by her foster parents.
While she'd been to the Aubade a few times in the past, Dottie always felt giddy with excitement every time she entered. Everything was so lavish and fancy, it was like being in a castle. The only thing she didn't really enjoy was how empty it was. That's why her case-worker had suggested the Bathos instead of the Aubade, it was nice but cozy enough for the two girls to be comfortable living there alone. Still, Dottie enjoyed visiting the Aubade, even if she had no particular draw to live there.
Making her way to the second floor, Dot once again checked the markered number she had written on her right forearm before she knocking firmly on the door twice. She hadn't physically seen Eric or Alex since the benefit for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill back in May. That was before she graduated and moved out and started at UW. It would be nice to see them both again, even if it was the fosters' idea.
