Who: Roger, Jim, Janet and Zinnia What: A totally not double date. Where: Phantasia When: Wednesday evening Warning: Christmas music ahhoooyyy
If Jim had told him that he was coming by on Wednesday, Roger had completely forgotten about it. Seeing Sydney had sent him into a strange spiral of traced memories that he had tried so hard to lock up. His future seemed to be a risk as well, considering that Alfie had hinted to a rogues gallery of spectacularly odd offenders with special abilities. He had a hard time believing Musings was better off than this world with plenty of masks running around, but still wondered what he was supposed to do. If all former Musings residents were given a power, what was his going to be?
The small band that was situated on stage was playing an instrumental version of "Mad World" that didn't seem to end. Roger typically worked late afternoons and early evenings, which meant the general atmosphere tended to be pretty relaxed. Especially on such a gloomy weekday. They could have played the same song for a good ten minutes and patrons would have still appreciated it. Roger, who was hired almost completely for his charisma and police academy discipline, was usually on top of making sure the band got through the planned out playlist and socialized with patrons who came up to say hello or make a request. But, tonight he was distracted to the point where he slowly started to transition into "Christmas Time is Here" without even thinking about it.
"Yo Darman-" the guitarist noticed first, halting the chord he was playing to look at him.
"A-yup." Roger had his head down as if he were trying very hard to study the keys.
"Wrong song, dude."
"Oh, my bad." Roger quickly switched to an even less appropriate tune with ease. The guitarist opened his mouth to object, but the change of music garnered polite applause from one side of the restaurant. Even the coldest of hearts and hipest of hipsters couldn't resist it.
