"Thanks!" he replied brightly, intensely pleased and mildly embarrassed for a reason he couldn't quite identify. Not that he didn't know he could cook (aside from the tendency to char the grilled stuff and try to stick strange ingredients in sauces, and even then he thought they were completely and totally acceptable practices), but compliments weren't something he got often, and he couldn't help but feel he didn't quite deserve them when they came.
