Who: Bonnie and Quinn (with possible appearance by Jack, if needed) What: A rescue! Where: A dark alley When: This week Warnings: None
Bonnie had meant what she'd told Cassidy; she'd prove heroes existed.
She waited until dark, because heroics clearly happened after dark, and she picked her most sober sundress, because heroics obviously involved dark colors. She didn't have any weapons, per se, but she had her cellphone with her. Really, heroics didn't need to involve blood and danger, she thought. She'd just wait for crimes to start being committed, and she'd dial 911. Voila! Instant hero.
Her first three calls went exactly as planned. She saw a dangerous looking man, and she called 911 before he attacked a woman on the sidewalk. She saw questionable looking teens, and she called 911 before they started stealing the hubcaps off the SUV parked under a broken streetlamp. She saw the gang pull up to the convenience store, and she called 911 before the first shot was fired.
She was feeling entirely positive about this whole endeavor when she turned down onto the darker alley, further away from Hamartia and the safety of lights. She slowed when she heard voices in the dark, walking toward them a bit more slowly, her phone ready to be dialed at a moment's notice.
