Lucky for him, Gwen tended to be pretty forgiving when it came to first impressions. Judging from her roommate and the people she often talked to online or onlink, this policy had worked out pretty well for her so far. Some weren’t the most social of people, but they were good people nonetheless. She was willing to set aside Darwin’s post and his over the top attempts to win her favor – charming and grin inducing though they were - and instead focused on who he really was. Quinn’s friend, apparently.
She watched the exchange between him and her with a small smile. “Well, no one really knows what to expect when they’re crossing over.” Two years ago she and Quinn barely had more hopes than plans, but it worked out for them. So far it wasn’t going too badly for Darwin.
Gwen began to move to the kitchen and from the way her head inclined, she wanted them to follow her. “So you knew Quinn from the old days? Hopefully you’ve kept some good company since then.” Her tone was gentle but clear that she knew the lifestyle Quinn had before they had met. She had hoped Darwin wasn’t here to bring any of that back into their lives. And just to take the edge off her question, Gwen fell back on simple manners. “Something to drink?”
