Who: Poppy C & Peter What: Oh wow, magic! Where: Some street corner in Rainier Valley When: Today Warnings: Not that I know of?
Poppy woke up with a groan, she’d been squatting in this lovely apartment for a few days now and still no sign of the resident. It was really nice to have a home again, however brief it may be. Slowly, she rolled over and looked at the alarm clock on the bedside table. 12:30PM. Wow, she hadn’t slept for so long, since well, she couldn’t remember. Either way, it was nice. Getting out of bed, she stood on her tippy-toes and reached for the ceiling, sighing pleasantly as her back cracked and loosened. Maybe everyone was right, she really did need a permanent home.
Sunlight streamed through the window and Poppy realized that she’d barely left the building since she broke in, a few nights ago. Today was a good day to go outside and just roam around for a bit. Maybe try out those cards she swiped the other night. Satisfied with her decision, Poppy took a quick scalding-hot shower and got dressed. Nothing fancy, just a pair of ripped skinny jeans and a worn-out old hoodie; she didn’t plan on impressing anyone today. Pulling her hair into a messy bun, Poppy grabbed her backpack and headed out the door.
She’d only turned two street corners when she caught sight of a small crowd forming around a young man. Street performance, she presumed. People who stood around and watched those were usually too distracted to be guarding their wallets and purses. She still had a couple dollars, but she could always use more. As she closed in on the small gathering, she noticed that it was a magic show. Poppy had always enjoyed magic shows; as far back as she could remember. Smiling to herself, she figured watching the show for a bit wouldn’t hurt her cause. So the distracted teen put her plan on hold for a few minutes to watch the boy do tricks with a quarter.
