Who: Bobby and Johnny
When: After he turns his article in that is so bogus no one can stand it.
What: He's in trouble. Apparently kittens are better than him.
Where: Bobby's office. And probably everyone at the Seattle Times can hear this one.
Johnny had his article on the "vigilante bar patrons" on the boss' desk by 9:30 AM as promised. He was nothing if not punctual. He was sitting at his desk staring at the clock and trying to make it through his emails, without looking as nervous as he felt.
He'd done Max a favor, he'd stuck his neck on the line, and really...He'd done it to protect all of them, including himself. There was no reason anyone should think that he'd been there that night, he'd seen the video. He had seen himself, but that was only recognizable to him. Whenever anyone else saw it, he was more blurry and out of focus than all the rest of them. Including Max...But he'd kept her name out. And he'd played it off as pre-Halloween performance art. He'd put in interviews with eye witnesses, and if the boss asked, he'd say he was with Max that night.
At precisely 9:39 AM it happened. It was only a matter of time of course before the loud baritone echoed through the office. It wasn't just any random yell either, it was the distinctive sound of the boss yelling "COPELAND!" He took a deep breath, and without a word he stood up and walked toward the other man's office. He wasn't going to cave, and he wasn't going to admit anything. As awful as this was going to be, he wasn't going to cave. When he put his mind to something, more importantly when he'd given someone his word, he stuck it out. No matter what the consequences. He straightened his tie before he walked in, "Morning, Boss," he said calmly as he stepped inside the office and closed the door behind him. It wouldn't matter, he was sure the whole staff of the Seattle Times would hear this.
