"That isn't what I meant by consequences, sweetheart." Dante was amazed by how truly innocent Sam seemed to be. It wasn't nearly as endearing on Luke, though. "This place is safe because no one can use their powers, right? Well, if someone found out that they actually could, and they let everyone else know, do you think this could really stay a safe place?"
He answered the question before they could respond, tone dramatic. "Of course it couldn't. People need a restriction like that so that they aren't tempted to turn it into a war zone, like the rest of the city. They aren't staying neutral out of the goodness of their own hearts. A wise man, if he knew differently, would keep his mouth shut and his knowledge to himself." Of course, if Dante knew what his ability was, or how to use it, he would have been testing it out immediately. Those rules didn't apply to him.
Smile growing even wider, he gazed into Sam's eyes and added, "As for my power, I'd much rather show you sometime."
