Who: Jane and Jack What: Late night noises from the fire escape Where: Hamartia #502 When: Early hours of the morning. Warnings: Possible swears
Jane needed to get out of the house. She stumbled out of bed, her head throbbing, the nerves in her hands and wrists screaming at her, burning up her arms and in to her brain. She fell on the carpet, skinning her knee on the filthy floor, before lunging out into the empty living room. She fumbled for a moment with the blinds, eventually grasping them with her cramping fingers and yanking the whole thing down, hurling them away. She slid the large window open and half stepped, half fell out of the window, on to the fire escape.
The cool air hit her body, shocking her, and she could feel a mist of water in the air. She huddled against the building, trying to bring her mind back under control, rubbing her hands and wrists together. It took her a moment to realise she was sobbing, and the realisation made her sob even harder.
She couldn't move, couldn't breathe, and the whole world was crashing down at a million miles and hour around her.
