"I'm looking for my beloved. My Romeo." She faltered there, though, on those words. "I'm looking for my beloved," she repeated, and that sounded better, more true. "Did you bring me a note from my beloved?" she asked, looking at him with trusting eyes that seemed somehow surprised to be trusting.
