Who: Rian Johnson and Sara Hawthorne
What: An introduction!
Where: RJK (The bakery Sara works at)
When: Saturday evening
Warnings:
The neighbourhood that Rian lived in, Rainier Valley, was always a delight to wander through some evenings. And by delight, Rian meant a disaster. There were many reasons that he assumed people usually avoided the area and he was sure that it might have had something to do with the high rates of crime and possibly the gangs that liked to favour the area... To him, it seemed like a decent enough reason for people to stay away. Of course, that was just his own theory. However, on some evenings, such as the one like tonight, the sky was clear and the air pleasant enough to want to take a stroll through the streets.
While he had lived in his apartment for just over six months, wandering area to see what was around him never seemed too appealing for a few reasons. One, it was always cold during that time of the year and two, the sun went down quite early in comparison to what it did now. Rough neighbourhoods never really bothered him, but he still didn't want to take too many chances.
The street was loud tonight and he wondered if others had the same idea as him and were simply taking advantage of the evening and its appealing airs. On one occasion as he walked, a small group of children were running so hard they had slammed head first into his legs. Rian merely laughed politely at them as they apologized profulously to him, before running off in the opposite direction again with broad grins on each of their faces. Ah children... still so innocent at that age...
He passed store after store and occasionally glanced inside each one to see what sorts of shops they were and if any of them would potentially hold any interest to him. He noticed a rather dingy looking used bookshop that appeared to be closed at the moment, but he made a note to himself to return at another time. Usually they were the best kinds of places to get books. After passing a few more stores, Rian thought of heading back to his apartment for the night to see what food he could scrape up for himself to munch on while he read his latest book (a true crime story and a real thriller), when a particular shop caught his eye. The windows were coloured in a warm light against the darkening streets and, even from his considerable distance, he could smell the rich scents that he could almost SEE wafting from the doors... His nose gave a little twitch as he followed it to its source and found himself walking inside a rather rich looking bakery.
Instantly, his mouth began to water at the sight of a double-chocolate cupcake, iced with a thick layer of chocolate icing.
Alright Rian. Stay. Calm. Breathe. ...Oh god yes, the cupcake has a fudge centre!
Oblivious to anyone else in the store, Rian's eyes stared longinly at the cupcake in the display as he debated how many he should get... Two? Perhaps three? The person behind the counter is female, surely she will think less of you if you get any more than four if it is just for yourself... Would she not?
