Who: Renard and Thomas
What: Presents! Kinda.
When: Backdated - Thursday, May 26, Afternoon.
Where: Thomas's Office; Thomas, Inc.
Warnings: None.
Thomas, Inc had quickly taken over a vast majority of Renard's time, but he didn't mind in the slightest. He was always on top of things, doing his best for Thomas and the company. He was proud of all the work he had done, even if it was mostly politics and tedious paperwork. Every so often he was able to collaborate on R&D projects, and he still kept a careful eye on everything that went on in the department. He missed having projects of his own, though, which was why he began using his weekends and evenings working for Thomas in an entirely different way. Given the past media frenzy about Thomas, Renard went to the drawing board with the intent to create something to help the man. There were already a number of projects to help him on his spare time with his hobbies, but what Renard was aiming for was something more personal.
The news that Thomas had a baby daughter touched Renard deeply. He remembered when his own daughter was new born, and the worry that had consumed him the first few weeks back at work had led him to design a special sort of baby monitor on a closed circuit frequency that would be fairly difficult to hack and that could transmit up to 15 miles from the main monitor, which would be for the baby. He had never gotten around to building it, instead using his leverage within the company to simply bring his daughter to work every day. However, from what Renard knew, Thomas wasn't married to Amanda's mother, a Ms. Maxine Main from the Seattle Times. He wasn't surprised to see that she was typically the one to cover the Vigilante news for the area. Of course, it also meant that she was consistently in a fair bit of danger.
Renard poured over whatever photos of Max he could find, fashion magazines, department stores, and designed a simple vest that was inconspicuous but could withstand a fair amount of damage. It wouldn't simply stop a bullet or a direct knife attack, but it could bear the brunt of the attack and leave the wound less serious than it might potentially have been. There was a thin metal plating that served as the zipper and around the chest area to protect her heart, and that was capable of stopping a bullet, though she would feel the full force of it. It was a metal compound of his own invention that had been rigorously tested against a number of handguns and ammunition.
He had difficulty thinking of something for Luke, unwilling to leave the boy out when he had an obvious fondness for him. Renard tossed ideas back and forth as he worked on Amanda's and Max's things and finally settled on a computerized personal assistant custom made for Luke. It wasn't his best, but it was something, and Renard fully intended to ask Thomas for ideas as to what Luke might need. It had taken a few months, but finally he was ready with all of the projects. He checked with Thomas's secretary and found that he was free Thursday afternoon. Armed with his projects and a smile, Renard made his way up to Thomas's office and waited as his secretary informed Thomas that he was there to speak with him.
