"Don't. Don't apologize." Roger's tone might have been harsher than it needed to be, but that's who he was lately. He turned to look at her like she helped him realize something about himself. Something that he might have known but was fighting off for some time. "This is what I signed up for. I just shouldn't have made friends. I just want to be Nightwing. I just want to do what I couldn't in New York. Nothing is getting in the way of that."
And, that right there was what vigilantism did to a man. He still didn't quite see it, but Roger was becoming obsessed with upholding the law with no real end goal in sight. As Nightwing he wanted to be a simple force for justice. Not quite a symbol, just something that stopped criminals that the law couldn't get to.
