The fact that her personal space was being invaded didn't sit well with Daryl. She stiffened, muscles tense, as the detective leaned in terribly close. The words were almost lost amidst the heat of her breath against her ear that created a strange tickling sensation. Nose wrinkled slightly, she looked up at the much taller woman with a matter-of-fact expression.
"Mr. Morgenstern invited me," she said simply. "Given that so many individuals from our coalition of buildings were attending, I thought it wise to accept his invitation for surveillance purposes." Which was true. Daryl would never have come to this thing if she hadn't thought she could benefit in some way.
Raising a brow, she turned the question back on her. "And you? Guns aren't an accepted fashion accessory at a charity ball, this seems to be out of your element."
