He sat back on his heels when he pushed him away, watching him closely. "Just because you haven't seen someone in long time doesn't mean you haven't thought about them," he said, still calm, concerned, a little aloof. "The distance hardly matters."
He dropped the calm and steady act, expression turning faintly amused in a way that didn't quite mesh with Azrael's appearance. "Anyway, it doesn't matter what you might think, or how sure you are. The rules are the rules." He waved a hand. "Don't worry. I won't tell." He didn't totally manage to keep the bitterness out of his tone that time.
