Who: Ray
What: Stealing Item Number Three
When: 3/12 around 10pm - 3/13 around 1am
Where: Orin’s Boat
Warnings: Nuffin!
This next one seemed fairly straightforward, even if it was Orin Monarch he was stealing from. Ray wasn’t stupid; he knew high profile targets meant he was more likely to get caught. He was being extra careful this time, purposefully creating an alibi with Peter before sneaking out the fire escape. He was dressed in all black again, with his messenger bag slung over his shoulder, filled with a grappling hook to get on board, a few pairs of gloves, some safe cracking tools, and a mapped layout of the boat including a clear pathway to the jewels.
Getting to the docks was fairly easy, and getting past the security guards wasn’t the hardest thing in the world. It had taken some smooth talking, and a bit of money changing hands, but Ray had expected that. He slipped into the shadows, keeping to the edges of buildings and out of the view of the various security cameras. Once he found the right dock that had Orin Monarch’s boat, he crept along the edge of it, coming up to the back of the boat. He pulled the grappling hook out of his bag and tossed it up over the side. It made a small amount of noise, so Ray stayed still for a moment, listening in the calm night air for any signs that he had been discovered. Hearing none, he pulled himself up the rope and over the side. He collected the hook and stuffed it back in his messenger bag, slipping on a pair of gloves before creeping around the boat.
He moved slowly, taking his time to be sure to not attract any attention. It took nearly fifteen minutes for Ray to find the appropriate room that housed the safe he needed. He picked the lock to the door with relative ease, and thanked his lucky stars that Orin wasn’t insanely paranoid. There had been a typical amount of security on the boat, nothing so over the top that it was outside Ray’s skill set. The safe was a bit more advanced, but thankfully Ray had done his research. The specs on this particular safe were nearly identical to the one he had guessed Orin would have.
Cracking the safe was a long process, but in the end it was well worth it. After forty-five minutes, the safe was open and Ray was faced with a few pieces of jewelry. The woman that had hired him had specified an emerald necklace as his target, and although he considered taking all of the jewels, in the end he just took what he had been commissioned to steal. Less of a risk that way, and he was already taking a huge risk. He carefully put the necklace into an appropriate case and slipping it into his messenger back. He left everything else exactly the way he found it, closing up the safe and locking the door behind him.
Ray slipped back quietly through the boat and dove off the side into the water. He hoisted himself out onto a dock a bit further down and slipped out passed the guards mostly unnoticed. It took him a bit longer to get to the designated meeting spot than usual, but the messenger bag was delivered by 12:30am, which meant Ray was tucked in bed by 1, ready to face the next theft with a smile on his face.
