Watching the masked man fight was both parts amazing and terrifying. It was incredible to watch him move, as if he had trained for years to hone his skill and precision. But it was terrifying to be reminded that this was the sort of person that she would come in contact with if she continued doing jobs for the Brotherhood. The invisible boy - thinking of him as "Darwin" was painful - still had her looking over her shoulder twice before going near anyone in the Brotherhood. Knowing that there were vigilantes like this, seeing them in action, just made her all the more cautious.
When he finished the muggers off, Hayley stayed still, almost wondering if he would just walk off and leave her to her own devices. When he turned to her, she tensed, still sitting with her back pressed against the wall. Gloved fingers laced together, she didn't move, though she didn't attempt to hide. That would have ended in disaster.
"Yeah," she said weakly, still unsure if she could stand up without falling over yet. "I'm fine, just...a little shaken." She looked down at her knees for a moment, as if they were the most fascinating thing she had ever seen. "I've never seen anything like that before." Which was mostly true. It had never been anyone defending her.
