A grin lit Blytech's face. He didn't get a lot of compliments on his stuff. To his old friends, they were commonplace. To his parents, they were a nuisance. He was pretty sure his neighbors would start hating him soon. But at least Luke thought they were cool.
"Yeah, I know, right?" He shook his head and grabbed the piece of metal and plastic out of the air, turning it off. "I just gotta figure out how to make it last, you know? Drains batteries like crazy. I'm thinking of McGyvering some kinda AC/DC loop so it charges itself, but that adds bulk, so we'll see." But his goal was to have a working prototype come summer.
Peering at the object Luke picked up, Blytech frowned. "Uh..." He poked it, but didn't take it out of Luke's hands, fiddling with it. It hummed briefly, then coughed, sputtered, and died. "Nothing, seems. I think it was supposed to be a code breaker." He picked up the USB cable dangling off it and waggled it a bit. "I've got cooler stuff, though, like this." He pushed his toe through some of his stuff and picked up what looked like a set of tricked out glasses. "They're kinda like the army's night vision stuff, except I've got 'em so you can do ultraviolet, night vision, and infrared. Like the thermal sensing kind." He grinned. "Totally useful if you don't wanna turn on the lights, you know?" They were bulky, like most of his stuff, and he needed to slim them down.
He handed the glasses to Luke and picked up something else. "This thing gives you a body count based on sound waves. I don't have a fancy name for it yet, though." Turning it on, he faced one of the inside walls and pushed two buttons. A moment later, on a circular graph, two blips appeared. "That's you," he said, pointing to the one closest to him. "And that's my neighbor. Cool, right?"
