Who: Ant and Isobel What: Bungee jumping (Ant is skeptical) When: 11:10. Or so. Where: Bus stop near Bathos Warnings: None that I can think of?
Meeting random strangers random places wasn't exactly Ant's usual M.O. Not that he didn't do it from time to time (as he'd said to Isobel, anyone he'd ever met were strangers first, you had to start from scratch to have acquaintances to begin with), but he seldom made a habit of it. Although, he supposed, there were far worse ways to meet people, and so far the only fellows he knew right now were academically-induced (not work. Never work, he'd found out he ended up with too many questions if he associated with co-workers outside hours).
Bungee jumping, though. Not a prospect he was looking forward to, but there was always standing on the ground, watching and preparing to look appropriately saddened when the laws of nature inevitably came to the party. That he could do. That and "moral support".
He showed up at the bus stop early but barely so, what might be termed "fashionably" in more label-conscious circles, and peered around for someone who might be named Isobel. Not that he knew what one would look like, it was just another name and as far as he was concerned everyone looked like everyone else when it came to names. He pictured either a pixie or a drug lord's daughter, but that might have just been the television talking.
Unsuccessful thus far, he picked a bystander at random, and tapped her on the shoulder lightly, just enough to get her attention. "Any chance you're an Isobel?"
