"You're a very nice man," she said as if she'd just come to a firm conclusion despite the former transmission he'd given her. He wasn't going to be violent toward her, at least he didn't emanate any sort of violence thoughts. "But you can't take all the blame. I could have made more of an effort." Cherrie wasn't going to beat herself up over it, but she wasn't going to let him take the complete blame. She hadn't been very inclined to meet her neighbors. The building wasn't exactly welcoming and she wasn't sure what to expect. Her imagination had run wild the first few weeks there. After that she just settled into a nice routine.
She should have been taking her garbage around the corner, but she didn't even want to think of having to go out any further. The thought had been completely erased the moment he'd opened the door for her to go back inside. "I think I'd like that very much." Again, she was sincere, giving a nod. She just had to take a few breaths to steel herself from the overwhelming amount of racing thoughts surrounding her. She'd already found his voice. She just had to focus on it until she went back upstairs. "Are you the one who plays the loud music?"
