He tilted his head to the side, deciding she must have either been some kind of law enforcement or a doctor if she'd brought her kid down with her to see if there was anything she could do to help. It appeared as though the police and paramedics had the situation under control, although there was only so much they could do for the girls. Ryder turned to look at her in surprise, a few moments passing before he let out a dry, humorless laugh. If only she knew that smoking was the least of his worries. "It'll be the thing that kills me if I'm lucky." Then he noticed the little girl watching him, in the way that only young children could, and he shifted his feet a little - the closest to discomfort he would ever display. He'd never had much experience with children, so instead of smiling or something along those lines he simply gazed back for a moment before breaking eye contact to look elsewhere.
