Even Rob's discussion with J. Poole on make-up the other day wasn't enough for him to care about how this girl looked. To him, she just seemed torn up about this - which she had every right to be. People didn't look well in a crisis and they shouldn't be expected too. He attempted to smile back at her, knowing he was failing in the process.
"Their families will be happy," he said softly. If his uncle had been shot less fatally...if he'd only had to deal with the pain instead of dying...Rob shut his eyes and put his hands in his pockets, not thinking on it. He couldn't now - his Aunt and Uncle would disapprove. Living in the moment was what mattered, not getting caught up in the regrets.
He shook his head. "No. I'm a photographer. I mean, I guess it's for the Seattle Times-" He shrugged; he'd never quite understood people's hatred of the press. "I bring my camera with me everywhere. I was just...in the area at the right time." His mouth twisted into something bitter.
