This little girl's sentiments were all very nice. Idealistic. Hopeful. He could almost agree with them and say that yes, they were a good idea. But she didn't seem to realize that it would never happen. Mankind was drenched in folly and sin. Just by existing, they were disgracing themselves. There would be no absolution, no real repentance. God forgave them because He was all forgiving, all loving, and knew that they were flawed. But that didn't make any of this okay. It didn't make giving up an option.
"Nice idea," he said, nodding slightly. For a moment, he considered reminding her that it would never work despite the fact that her tone suggested that she knew that already. Instead, he merely looked down, lips forming a thin, straight line. "Good luck making it real."
With that, he pulled away from her touch, stalking through the crowd. Though he was short for a man, his broad-shouldered frame was enough to convince people to move for him, though they barely spared him a second glance. With the creak of old boots and stench of late-night violence, he was gone.
