Re: [Hamartia]
Luke had fallen asleep in front of his laptop at around 3am, halfway through an essay that was already a day late. It was the sound of sirens and voices drifting in through his open window that awakened him a few hours later, blinking blearily and straining to get a glimpse of what was going on below. He saw a small crowd gathered, police scattered about... but when he saw blood and motionless bodies, he was out of his chair in a flash and racing down the stairs, managing to tug on a pair of sweatpants before he got to the lobby.
He slipped through the crowd, between bodies and ducking under arms, until he managed to reach the front. Creeping forward, he got a good look at the bodies (teenage girls, only a few years younger than him) and the notes pinned to their shirts before a police officer forced him back.
For the heroes.
Without even realizing it his hands curled into fists, a cross between anger and disbelief twisting his features into a frown as he stared straight ahead, almost oblivious to everything else around him.
