Max hadn't been getting very far with Officer By-The-Book, and she was grateful of the interruption in the form of the young man at her side; it gave her a chance to think.
The officer explained the bare details of the case, leaving out anything of any importance - no white trucks or plates or forensic details. She glanced down at the young man, having caught a twitch of fingers in one of his pockets from her peripheral vision (old habit from the spying days), and when the officer dismissed them both, she turned to him. "Can whatever you have in that pocket get us any information before they take the victims away?" she asked curiously; he looked smart, and she had a gut feeling, and Max had learned to trust her gut.
