Thomas was stressed. There were some visual signs, lines of strain around his eyes, shades of dark under his eyes that he noticed showed up when he was not putting enough hours of sleep on the clock. The vitals were more telling, though. The thin suits he wore under the armor had a great many things that made them worth the several tens of thousands they cost; one of those things told him that his blood pressure was a little low and adrenaline levels were on the edge of abnormally low even in the most heated of struggles, which meant his reaction time was sluggish.
He found, for the most part, that his problem was simply time; he needed more time to do so many jobs at once. His committments to his various jobs were now interspersed with emotional pitfalls like the ones Max opened up in front of him about Corbinian or Luke. A great deal of his time now went into smaller trivial tasks that Alfie always took care of, and his desperate search to find someone he could imagine controlling Thomas, Inc. was bearing absolutely no fruit.
Alfie's wishes were a priority to Thomas, especially now that she was no longer here to make more of them. He sympathized with her heirs, who didn't seem to know her that well, and Tristan seemed continually at a loss about anything related to money. Thomas also had some idea that Tristan was somehow in ill health, and that would explain Alfie's additional interest in him. He knocked at Alfie's door, which was not at all familiar to him, because he'd never visited her at her home.
