Who: Everyone! What: A Big Band dance for charity Where:The Big Tent behind Reliquary. When: Saturday Warnings: Please place your location in the subject line. This is a party style post, please warn in subject if your thread gets too heated.
The tent behind Reliquary is large, a big top in bright red and yellow. It is warmed by air from the top of the tent, and inside it is temperate and comfortable, despite the temperature outside, which is in the high 50s. The tent is lit by soft red, hanging lanterns, giving the entire space a romantic glow. A temporary, raised wood floor has been set out for the event, and there is a DJ who spins 40s big band and slow dances, by turns.
There is a bar under the big tent, drinks are a dollar, and each dollar will be donated to repairing Seattle. There are quite a few older people there, having been bussed in from the local Senior Home, and they know all the old dances. The atmosphere is bright and positive and slightly tipsy, and the crowd is small enough to keep it from being formal or serious. There is the feeling of a group of people who want to forget bad things for the night, and the drinks are generous with the alcohol for that reason.
