Who: Jen & Open
What: Sick day.
Where: Bathos 401
When: All day Thursday
Warnings: This is very, very reasonable.
After the surprise, disconcerting phone call, Detective Warda had plotted the most logical course available. Once she'd properly composed herself, her reaction to the unexpected line of conversation similar to a content, sleeping cat thrown bodily into a bathtub, Jennifer had dialed the department and requested a sick day. Yes, a full sick day. Requesting time off might've felt peculiar, if she'd been in a clearer state of mind. The world hadn't ended, so Jennifer supposed the action wasn't too condemning in itself. People did these sorts of things from time to time, normal people.
Which was why, at eight a.m. on Thursday morning, the detective felt no particular shame in her quiet, thoughtful position on the kitchen floor. She sat, in her jeans and tank top from the previous day, in a sprawled position on the tile, her back leaning comfortably against the refrigerator. In her hands were the tools of her recovery, a cold pan of leftover enchiladas from earlier in the week, already half-consumed, and an as of yet unopened bottle of whiskey. Oh, she'd come around to that soon enough.
There was much she had to think on, to strategize, and Jennifer couldn't afford distractions. Which was why her cell phone was currently hiding in her room, kept neatly underneath a pillow--not that she was afraid of what else might occur if she checked her messages. Oh no, this was all very reasonable. Fork in hand, she gave her pan of enchiladas a thoroughly perplexed expression and continued to search for answers.
Detective Warda was feeling compromised. The cat had jumped from the bathtub, but the unpleasant sensation continued to linger over its fur, mocking and unavoidable.
