Who: Preston & OPEN What: The Seattle Children's Hospital Toy Drive, advertised here. Where: A nearby mall. When: The deepening of Christmas Eve, at around 8 PM. Drive ends at 10 PM. Warnings: TBA--probably none.
The drive is housed in the center of the mall's food court, a glittering monument to commercial holidays in shining gold, red ribbon, and huge replicas of Frosty the Snowman. A crowd of about twenty people are manning various tables, receiving unwrapped gifts, distributing donation forms, wrapping the gifts and depositing them into large containers for delivery.
Preston, who has managed to leave the three-piece suit at home, still looks serene in business casual with his clipboard. He's the only one who is not wearing a Santa hat. Someone has roped a jingle bell necklace around his neck, however, and it dangles over his nametag.
