It was a rare occasion that Tessa slinked out of the office for her lunch hour, but Kayla had been a little moody and Tess found that she got more done when she wasn't walking on eggshells around her boss. Working through her lunch break, however, was completely normal. There was a lot of stuff to do. There were briefs to work on, and she had several pieces of case law to look up and familiarize herself with.
She'd settled in at a table with a sandwich that she'd brought from home and some sort of delicious spiced coffee-based something that the barista had suggested, carefully arranging coffee and sandwich and laptop all in an agreeable fashion. They were all accessible, and that was key. A few clicks, and her screen became a study in over-organization – there were multiple windows, including a half-dozen Lexis Nexis searches, a handful of PDFs, and a rainbow-color-coded master document that she would use to sync up her files with the actual folders in Kayla's briefcase and file cabinets.
