In hindsight he probably wasn't the best person to handle this particular case. It had nothing to do with his competence or capability to find the perpetrator, because he'd be damned if he wasn't going to find the bastard as quickly as possible, but this was the kind of incident that played on his already precariously controlled temper. In the past five years Billy had let his anger get the best of him a handful of times, but he'd always regained control before anything too serious could happen. The only real consequence was that he earned himself a reputation in the precinct for his anger problems.
Cowards like the guy who'd roughed up and raped that girl (Amber, her name was; the one who killed herself) and attacked this Jess Tailor were scum in his opinion, and sometimes he thought even jail wasn't enough for the likes of them. Once he found this guy, maybe he'd have a nice talk with him first before sending him off to lockup.
He could keep his temper when he spoke to Jess, though. Working Special Victims in Musings meant that he'd talked to a lot of victims who'd gone through the same thing she had, and in a way he'd gotten used to it without actually getting used to it - even though that didn't make much sense. A couple hours after their forum conversation Billy made his way up to the seventh floor, the necessary paperwork in hand and his badge tucked in his pocket (just in case she asked). Once the report was filed he'd personally handle the investigation himself, even if this technically didn't fall under his jurisdiction. He didn't really give a damn, and he'd be careful about it. What was another case on top of the ones he already had? Of course he could handle it.
Billy raised a hand and knocked twice before waiting.
