Re: The Hallway.
He was momentarily alarmed when she looked like she was about to start crying, since he thought he might have said something wrong, but then she was hugging him - so of course he hugged her back. Even if it didn't mean she felt the same way, at least he hadn't ruined their friendship. Plus, she seemed glad that he'd told her. "You're welcome." It sounded kind of silly to say, but it was genuine.
Luke wasn't even aware that anyone else was in the hallway until Kylie spoke, but even then he was reluctant to pull back from their hug. He was disappointed at being interrupted - although Skyler and Kylie had just come out to make sure Bunny was okay - but it reminded him that he'd been out in the hallway for longer than intended and needed to get back inside. He'd left his guests at the table, and even worse he'd left Thomas alone with a bunch of teenagers. So far he probably wasn't making the best first impression.
"That's okay," he said sheepishly. "I should be getting back inside anyway. They'll think I took off." He wasn't sure if Bunny was going to follow or if she wanted to talk to her friends for a bit, but looked at her regardless and gave her hand another squeeze. "You coming?" Then he headed for the door with a nod in Kylie and Skyler's direction. Hopefully nothing had happened while he was gone.
