Re: The Hallway.
His nervousness was starting to show, and it was surprising enough that his nerve had managed to last this long without just laughing it off as some kind of joke. The hospital thing didn't even click, not fully, since he was preoccupied with thinking that he'd just told Bunny how he felt and now she was trying to let him down gently. "Oh," he said, trying to hide his surprise. Now it made a little more sense - luckily she must not have gotten too much of what he was thinking at the time, or this would have been going a lot differently. "I see. You didn't look like a crazy person, though."
Luke shifted slightly, feeling another small stab of guilt. "It's okay." She was squeezing his hand. What was that supposed to mean? She hadn't let go, either, and he wondered if she'd really understood what he was trying to say. All he wanted was a definitive answer, either an 'I like you too' or an 'I just like you as a friend'. Maybe hinting at it and expecting her to know what he meant wasn't the best course of action. "Yeah. It... well, it was kind of a confession." This time he gave her hand a squeeze, forgetting about his absence inside the main room. "I've wanted to tell you for a while, but I didn't want to... make things awkward. I didn't know how you'd react." He still didn't know, but she hadn't let go of his hand yet and he took that as an encouraging sign.
