Re: The Hallway.
"You're not stupid, Bunny." His backing-up-and-giving-her-space plan went out the window once she said that. "No one knew he was going to adopt me. No one. I didn't want to say anything until it was official, which was tonight." Luke rubbed his forehead absently before continuing. "I know you don't trust Thomas, but... he's not what you think he is. He didn't force me into this. I know you're worried that I'm going to... get hurt or something, but I'm not." The problem was that he didn't know how to convince her of that without telling her the whole truth, and he couldn't do that. It had nothing to do with what he wanted - it just literally wasn't something he had the right to share. "People are going to think what they want. That doesn't bother me, because I don't care what they think. I care what you think."
Well. He hadn't exactly meant to say that, but it was too late to take it back. Sighing heavily, he decided he wasn't making things any better. Maybe he needed to just shut up. "I don't want you feeling like you have to do anything you don't want to do." Luke made a half-move forward, towards her, but seemingly changed his mind halfway through and just stood there.
