Are you alright?

[M. Main]

I don't want to bother

They get in tomorrow. I've got them set up at a hotel near the hospital. The doctors are transferring Poe to a hospital in Boston next Friday, if everything continues as it has been.

Mom and Dad have agreed to watch over him. I'm not able to take care of him. I nearly killed him. Our parents aren't perfect, but they didn't nearly kill either of us. That's why they came to Seattle in the first place.

Are you insane?! Poe was going to Europe to meet another MAN, Shiloh! AND IT WAS NOT TO SEE THE SIGHTS.

I know full well why Poe was going to Europe, and our parents are also aware. He is simply going to be staying with them until he heals fully. They have more time than myself to see to his needs, and surprisingly, they almost seem eager to acquaint themselves with their only grandson. I am handling it, Preston.

[he's at work when the call comes through, somewhere he's been spending a lot of time. When he sees who it's from, he ponders for a moment not responding, but it's Preston and he can't ignore that]

Yes?

No, Preston. It's an elaborate joke designed to frustrate and upset you. [a pause] Yes. I am serious about this.

[he's keeping quite calm despite Preston's shrieking] I have talked to them, Preston. Do you think I would willingly put him into a dangerous situation?

I don't care. But the boy is going through hell, and giving him to the two people you know are only going to make it worse--with God.

I have talked to them, Preston. I have discussed this, at length, with them for several hours before ever asking them to come to Seattle. I do not intend for this to be a permanent solution, just until Poe's injuries improve. They are better equipped to help him than I am. I am not father-material, Preston. I think that's become rather evident since I moved here, hasn't it?

So you're going to serve him up to them? He's going to be sick, and they're going to be giving him hell about wanting to dance. Do you understand that? At least talk to his friends, someone who isn't going to make him feel like shit about being himself. I don't care what they told you, you stupid bastard. YOU WEREN'T THERE.

At present, yes. Your parents, are you hiding somewhere specific? As for Isobel, she's gotten herself in a bit of trouble. And, yes, that is quite the understatement.

Do you intend to remain within the city limits? Her ability failed her, and someone died. And she witnessed a murder, and has managed to make a target of herself. Isobel is going to turn my hair gray prematurely.

She has not been home since we argued. I do not know. I do not think I am cut out for parenting, Preston, and I find I want to shake her more often than not. Your parents, I would offer to face them with you, but I suspect that would only make things worse. Is this a casual visit?
