Photo is credited to Aaron Abrams.] Yesterday afternoon, the Bank of America on West 3rd Street was stormed by a man in a green suit and mask. Wielding a gun and eight large, dangerous dogs, he demanded money on threat of releasing his attack dogs. Not long after the scene started, a relatively new Mask arrived and stopped the robbery. The would-be bank robber left with nothing after releasing the dogs on the crowd of civilians, killing his four accomplices in the process. The Mask, who self-identified as the "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man" to crowds as he made his exit through the skylight, contained the dogs in the robber's absence. Six civilians sustained injuries, of which none required overnight hospitalization. The would-be robber didn't give himself a name, though civilians present at the robbery referred to him as "The Doctor." As he did not leave with any money or valuables, the question of his motive in staging this robbery remains. Eyewitnesses say he mentioned "the birds," which brings back memory of the strange bird attacks that occurred during the first week of May. However, confirmation of this has yet to come.
