POLITICIANS LAND IN SEATTLE [Photo of the Seattle Convention Center.] The city of Seattle is no longer an national disaster area. In the wake of the carnage and devastation of the previous weeks, the Annual Summit on National Security, originally scheduled to be held in California, is now being held in our rainy city. Politicians began arriving this morning and are expected to continue arriving into the late evening. The International Airport has been closed, due to safety concerns, and all flights are being re-routed. The convention will run into early next week, and topics scheduled include emergency services, border security, vigilante activity and federal response time. Additional sessions are scheduled, but attendees and topics have not been disclosed by event coordinators. Our local politicians and businessmen are slated to attend, giving Seattle a front-row seat in these very important discussions. Here's hoping someone with something more meaningful than a press pass asks when the National Guard is going home. (CON'T page A3) → |
