delivered to aubade 402
At about 5 o'clock in the morning on Sunday, January 16, a small cardboard box is delivered to Aubade 402. It is sealed with clear packing tape and addressed to Tristan Sable without a return address. Inside the box is a mess of dark green tissue paper that bundles up its true contents, with a small note atop the paper addressed to Tristan. The note, written in neat hand, reads:
Mr. Sable, Please ensure that the contents of this package reach Mr. Savoie. He is expecting them. Thank You
Wrapped up in the tissue paper are a pack of cigarettes, a plastic lighter, and a note. The note reads:
Mr. Savoie, I hope that the contents of this package are to your liking. While I imagine that they will not hasten your recovery, I'm sure that they will make your recovery time more pleasant. Regards, Daryl Hockney
