Detective Warda:
I hope you don't mind me contacting you in this way. It seems the best way to do so. If you don't recall me, I am Austin Lyddie. I work in the Medical Examiner's office with Dr. Cunard, and you and I have collaborated on a case or two in the past. As this forum is very secure in ways email is not, I am contacting you about a most unfortunate experience I had this past Friday, the fourth of September.
I made arrangements to do a carpool with a resident of one of the three apartment complexes housing individuals from our world. I saw some time later that day that Mr. J. King had canceled fifteen minutes before his tentative arrival via forum post. As per our arrangement, a limo was waiting by the Bathos by the time I exited the building. Unfortunately, Mr. King, was not in the car. In lieu of his presence, I came face to face with a man wearing strange makeup. He appeared unkempt. His suit was stained, his hair greasy (I believe the natural color is blond, though it appeared green). The makeup was not thick enough to cover the bad scarring around his mouth. I believe someone cut him badly and did not allow the wounds to heal properly.
The man did not provide a name, but implied he was not J. King. Upon further reflection, I believe he was telling the truth. He was interested in my position as a medical examiner, and appears to have studied my life intimately. I can only assume he has been watching for some time. I freely admit I am a creature of very exacting habits. It would have been very easy to discern my schedule.
He held a knife against my face and demanded I provide for him all the coroner's reports before they were "official," never mind the fact that they are electronic and available almost as soon as they are finished. He seems to have missed that point entirely. He provided me with an email address to which I may send these reports.
I shall, of course, comply. However, I have every intention of blind copying you on these emails. I ask only that you do not attempt to make contact with this man via the email address and give him no indication that I have contacted you. I also ask that you not attempt to contact me outside of business as usual. Arousing his suspicion is not something I am keen on doing. I will contact you only by forum, and only from one of the computers that require an ID pass in the M.E.'s office. These computers, thankfully, can only be accessed by myself or Dr. Cunard. I ask also that you be discreet in responding to this message or any contact with me in general regarding this particular development.
I will forward to you what information I can as it is given to me.
Regards,
A. Lyddie
