Sydney was standing at the door with a bright smile. "Hey Will!" she said, taking his hand and shaking it. Her handshake was a firm one--certainly not crushing, but enough to show that she didn't have any confidence issues when meeting new people. "Thanks," she said as she stepped into the house. There was a package in her hand, and she lifted it up with a small grin. "So...I know it might not be kosher to give a gift when interviewing for an apartment, but--"
She handed the package over. It was a mason jar filled with homemade cookies, with a red ribbon tied around the neck of it. "Hope you like chocolate chip," she said. She noted the cleanliness of the apartment: most apartments were cleaned before someone visited, particularly if they were looking for a roommate, so the state of the apartment was nice but not a surprise. She certainly would have rethought the potential living area if it hadn't been cleaned up at all.
Then, she turned back to Will, surveying him as well, though more subtly. He seemed nice--clean, nicely dressed, amiable. She wasn't desperate either: in fact, her reasons for trying to find a roommate were similar to Will's, though she didn't know that. If she couldn't find a place by the end of the week, she'd probably just move into an apartment on her own first...but that would make her a little sad.
