Prompt: 5. Do you have a best friend?
Word Count: 394
Open to roleplay: Yes, in my journal please.
I had a best friend in high school when things were like a million times less complicated. Back before Buffy pulled her little wooden stick out on me at the Bronze like it was just another night in Sunnydale (and trust me it was). Back then it was just me and Harmony and our devoted minions (also known as the Cordettes). Things were easy back then. The only things we had to worry about is which popular guys were going to be lucky enough to escort us to dances and maintain absolute control over social order. These kinds of things were a really big deal to me and Harmony back then. It's safe to say that things have changed now. After all, she's a vampire and I'm a half demon with mind numbing visions.
Harmony's not my best friend anymore. She kind of ruined that when she tried to turn us all into that weird pyramid scheme vampire cult. But that was okay because my life had already changed and there was no way I could go back to shallow Sunnydale Cordy. The PTBs had seen to that and honestly I didn't want to go back to the way things were. There was so much pain, so many people in trouble in Los Angeles that all I wanted to do was help. After awhile, I even forgot about my dream of becoming an actress and committed myself full time to Angel Investigations.
My best friend is a vampire. And not the annoying, backstabbing vampire that Harmony turned out to be but probably the bravest most incredible vampire that's ever existed. The PTBs didn't have it wrong when they chose Angel to be a champion. He's done more good for Los Angeles than any cough*ahem*cough slayer could have ever done. Working by Angel's side I not only got to do a lot of good in LA, save a lot of people, help a lot of hopeless- but I also got to know Angel. I saw how much he struggled with redemption, with separating the man from the beast inside of him. And if anyone had ever given me cause to hope for anything, it was him. When the rest of us all fall down? Angel will still be standing.
Y'know, as long as he doesn't lose his soul and viciously murder us all.
