prompt #1-
Muse/Fandom: Dean Winchester / Supernatural
Prompt: 1. What's your worst character flaw?
Word Count: 381
Open to roleplay: Sure!
Glancing in the mirror, Dean's brow knitted slightly as he met his own gaze. He leaned heavily on the sink and it was then that he first noticed a streak of gray at his hairline, just left to the center of his head. Eyes narrowing, Dean noticed crows feet at the corners of his eyes as well. When did he get old? Clenching his jaw, he lifted a hand and pushed it through his dark blond hair, fingers hesitating at the gray. That was just great. He was going to look like Bobby soon. At the thought, his gaze shifted to the door and Dean pursed his lips for a moment. Were they doing the right thing? Was this right?
Of course it was. There should be no question to the matter. Of course it was the right thing to want Sam's soul back. Of course it was the right thing to go through whatever lengths to get it. The end justified the means, didn't it? Of course it did. There was no question. Or... he didn't want there to be a question. Everyone warned him. Sam's soul was fractured, shredded, abused and beaten. Torn apart by two of the most powerful beings in the universe. But Dean couldn't stop. He couldn't stop thinking about it, couldn't stop plotting, and in the end, he got what he wanted. He had been willing to do whatever it took to get Sam's soul back into his brother's body. Because it was the right thing. Everyone needed a soul.
The sudden, bloodcurdling scream that echoed through the entire house nearly took him to his knees and Dean squeezed his eyes shut for a second's worth of turmoil before he fled from the bathroom and down toward the panic room.
His worst character flaw? Dean Winchester didn't have just one, he had many - selfishness, arrogance, stubbornness, self-righteousness, single-mindedness - and they were all tangled into a huge knot with things like pride, rage, murder, and a hero complex. But what did they all boil down to? It was obvious as he rushed into the room to find Death standing over his baby brother. All of those things... they could be summed up into one word - his greatest flaw and his greatest asset:
Family.
