Topher gently took one of her arms, checking it over before starting to treat it. He asked Dove to get him some water before turning his attention back to Shine.
"Well, the weather is turning but... sometimes the way we feel emotionally and mentally, can have physical affects. How long have you been sitting here?" he asked softly. "Sometimes, simply not moving for a while can make you feel cold," he added.
"I dunno, Buck left..."
Dove returned a short while later. "I brought warm, and I thought vodka might help with cleaning."
Topher thanked Dove and took them. "I'm guessing Buck left some time in the night, so maybe once we've got these cleaned and wrapped, how about we go for a small walk?"
Shine nodded, still shaking.
"Shouldn't take long," Topher assured her gently as he began to work.
"What if...he doesn't want me?"
"Would if he have travelled all this way, if he didn't?"
Shine shook her head. "Not who I was."
"Did you get that impression from him?" Topher asked, carefully wrapping one arm before switching to start tending the other.
Shine shook her head. "Not real yet though is it?"
"I think, from the sound of it, everything before Buck left happened so... Almost finished," he said as he began to wrap her other arm.
"He'll leave when he sees me like this."
"What do you think about the fact he's here though? That they're here?" Topher finished wrapping her arm. "Is there anything else you need?"
"Find me meds, make them go...or stay."
"I'll try with the meds, but I can't promise anything. But I will get that food list I mentioned before." Topher said. "As for the other, I don't think I can help with that, Shine. But I'll be happy to check them over if needed and wanted?"
"Of course they'll need checking."
Topher nodded. "How did they seem? Can you remember?" he asked, as he began to pack things away, thanking Dove again. "Or are you just pre-empting?
"Daniel's skin and bone, I hardly got a look at the kids properly, they were sleeping," Shine replied.
Topher's brow creased as he mentally went through the supplies in his pack. "Want me to stay around for a while?"
Shine nodded and smiled as Dove settled with them.
"Anything else I should know?" he asked. "About anyone here or with the other tribes?" Despite officially being a chet, the majority from the other tribes didn't treat him as such.
"Sparks has burns again, and this one needs to eat more," Dove nudged Shine
"Just his fingers again?" Topher asked. "I'll get that list sorted for you by tomorrow," he promised Shine.
"Don't wanna eat"
"You have to eat something. Doesn't have to be a lot, to start with."
"Why, taking food from others"
Topher sighed. "Shine, you are important. I know you don't feel like it, but you are. People care about you and want you to be OK. Do you want to be there for this man and his kids?"
"What do you think he imagined?"
"What do you mean?"
"About me? Not this."
"I don't know, Shine. I don't know the man."
"You know what I said," Shine muttered
Topher nodded. He pursed his lips. "I'm not sure. I might expect you to be angry with him and not want anything to do with him or... that you wouldn't believe he was here because he loved you or for you at all."
"I need to know," Shine murmured
"Then maybe you need to ask the person who can actually give you the answer?"
"Scared to,"
"I don't blame you. But I doubt you'll get the answers you want otherwise," Topher said gently.
"You ever loved anyone that much?"
Topher seemed to think about it for a moment before he shrugged. "Probably not."
