Shine was up, as usual, sitting in her garden. She rarely slept properly now. A torchlight coming towards her drew her attention and she tucked herself deeper into the shadow
"Sunshine shack..." Daniel muttered aloud over and over. He lifted the torch to shine it towards the shadowy form of a shack. He caught a flash of yellow before his ankle rolled on something and he fell on his knee, dropping the torch as he did. "Bollocks."
"You always used to tell me off about swearing," Shine heard the voice, but didn't really believe it. She stepped out of the more solid block of darkness.
"I used to do a lot of things..." he muttered. He lifted his head and squinted in the direction her voice came from as he gingerly got back to his feet. "Is it really you?" he asked softly.
"I think so if you're you," Shine replied
Daniel had retrieved that torch and flicked it back on. "Angel?"
"I was a long time ago, yeah," Shine murmured. "Hi Danny."
Daniel shone the torch over to where she was, careful not to shine it in her eyes. He stared at her, worried she was a ghost or another hallucination and that she would just disappear. "Hi." He took a step towards her, then hissed out a swear word as a sharp pain shot through his ankle.
"Just like every time then," Shine murmured, turning to go back inside
"Wait. Angel, wait..." He limped forward. "Please?"
"Why? You're not real! You weren't even when we were in the same room! You weren't mine!"
"I am real." He moved closer, ignoring the pain in his ankle. "I was. I am. Yours I mean... unless you don't..." He shook his head. "Of course you don't. Why would you. I'm so sorry Angel."
"Of course I do, but, I see you all the time. This..." Her breathing shook
