"And that's why Buck and Dove think you should see the doc?"
"Mmm, there used to be pills, but the stock ran dry months ago. I think they worry I won't last long without them."
"Aren't there others things that can be done instead of pills?" JD asked.
"Yeah, it's just a harder road," Shine admitted
"Is there anyway we non-doctory types can help make it easier?"
"You already do, you're here for me," Shine sighed. "I just miss them. I...there's lots of might have beens, but if the person you're imagining them with never actually cared about you, then they wouldn't have been real whatever happened to the world."
"Sorry." JD shifted her goggles up atop her head. "That must suck."
"It does, but it's getting easier to cope with. We'll always miss them," Shine replied
JD nodded. She hoped wherever her brothers were they were at least still together. John would make sure Blair was safe, and her younger brother would keep their older brother from doing something stupid. She hoped.
"I should get back and see to those filters for Dove. Catch you later?"
"I promise," Shine replied
JD grinned and waved before running off to collect her tools.
Shine kept walking, trying to keep her happiness up while she was alone, but JD's questions made her mind wander. Danny and Jess. She still missed them as well as her actual family every single day. And Treacle of course.
