Charles Archibald ‘Archie’ Taylor (

Dora woke slowly. She curled into the warm body beside her, making sure she hadn't actually dreamed everything from the night before
Archie had an arm around her waist, still asleep next to her.
"So you are real," she nuzzled into his neck.
Archie sighed softly, unconsciously shifting closer.
"Please forgive me for what I have to do," Dora muttered
"Mm?" Archie stirred slowly.
"It's OK, nothing to worry about."
Archie seemed to settle for a moment before he stirred again, his eyes opening this time. He smiled. "Morning."
Dora kissed him. "Hi."
Archie's smile widened and he returned the kiss. "I could get used to this."
"Remember I'm leaving," Dora said softly
"I know." Archie kissed her again. "But there's this wonderful thing called magic, that makes distance a bit less of an issue."
"Mmm, wonderful magic," Dora looked away from him
Archie shifted to prop himself up on his elbow. "What is it?"
"Things just might be awkward sometimes," Dora replied
"OK. I can deal with awkward."
"Or I might have to be off the map a bit," Dora replied
"How come?"
"Just some investigative stuff, maybe."
"Oh, right. The kind where you won't be able to keep in touch?"
"Maybe."
"But, you'd let me know when those times might be?" Archie asked slowly.
"I'd try."
Archie leaned over and kissed her softly. "OK."
"I will try."
"I'll hold you to that."
"But will you wait?"
"Yes." He ran his fingers up her side. "I know what you think of me... but, I'm not going to just drop and leave."
"It's more about being fair to you," Dora replied
"Dors, I've liked you for a long time. Rosmerta's been trying to convince me to ask you out for about a year. Trust me, it's OK."
She grinned. "Good."
Archie's lips quirked. "So... do you have any plans now?"
"Not for days," Dora smiled
"Oh really? What would you want to do then?" Archie run his fingers up her side and shifted closer.
"An idea or two," Dora grinned and kissed him. Was this really real? Had she got the prize?
Archie smiled into the kiss. "See now I'm curious."
"For a start, want breakfast?"
"Was that one of the ideas?"
"Mm, need to keep our energy up," Dora gave him a slow smile
Archie chuckled. "Oh really? Carb-loading?"
"Charmer," Dora laughed
Archie grinned and leaned over to kiss her again.
"You ever wish we hadn't wasted any time?!
Archie brushed his fingers along the curve of her hip. "You mean this? Us? I never really thought you felt that way about me."
"And I'm pretty sure I always have," Dora admitted.
Archie met her gaze, his hand settling on his hip. "Really? I never knew that."
