"Well, London to Hogsmeade would be good. But imagine if there was a way for it to work between countries? Would save flying or apparating."
"I've never flown the muggle way, have you?"
He nodded. "A few times. Mum was terrified the first time," he said. "Actually, she was the others times too. The last time she said she'd meet us there."
"Got to love a portkey," Dora grinned
"They are handy. Dad refused to touch one though. Said they were too weird."
"Mmm but planes are too."
Archie chuckled and gave a short shake of his head. "Now I feel like I'm at home."
Dora tilted her head in question.
"Constant parent conversations verging on arguments. The muggle way is safer/more normal/less weird. No, the wizarding way is."
"And which as it?"
"Neither. Both." He shrugged. "They can be as bad or good, dangerous or safe, and weird as the other."
"And preference?"
"I don't really have one. Depends what I'm doing. Where I'm going. How I feel. Sometimes it's nice to take a break from magic."
"Even more inbuilt for me than most," Dora replied
"What's it like? Being a metamorphmagus?"
"I dunno, sometimes I feel free, but others...I'm not great at much else."
"You're great at writing."
"So are a lot of people, but I could live muggle life if I learned a lot I suppose."
"Would you really want to though?"
"Not really, but something might make it worth it"
"Like what?"
"The right person."
"Ah." Archie lowered his gaze briefly. "Well, I suppose you never know what the future will bring, huh?"
"Hmm, nope," Dora rose to grab some more firewhiskey
"I should probably think about getting home," Archie said, though he still held his glass out for a refill.
She filled his glass. "Or you could not?"
Archie raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
"I have a sofa," Dora replied
"So you do. I was wondering what it was," he quipped with a smile.
"So you can get drunk and stay?"
"It would seem so."
"Really does!" Dora laughed
Archie smiled widely. "Better refill the glasses then."
Dora filled the glasses again. "So Leeds?"
"Mm? What about it?"
"What's home like?"
"Oh, you know... it's home, it's great, horrible, fun..." He shrugged and began to tell her about the city.
"It must be nice to know both. The pressure of a name is hard. I'll never be like my uncle."
"You don't have to be." Archie glanced into his drink. "Dora... Did you ever hear any of the Slytherins while I was school? Say anything about my mum?"
"Mmm, I just ignored them."
"What bits did you hear?"
"Just...bad things."
"That she's a Selwyn?"
Dora nodded, just once. "It's just a name not who she is, you are."
Archie quirked a wry smile. "Exactly. Same goes for you."
"It's different I wanted to be like him, so badly."
"To be honest, Dors. I always found your uncle a bit... creepy."
"Well, not the vibe, but the power."
"You have your own power, Dors."
She turned her hair blue, "this?"
Archie shook his head. He leant forward and brushed his fingers against her temple "Here." Then he moved his hand to rest over her heart. "And here." He shrugged. "Sure, your metamorphmagus powers are amazing but... you're more than that. You just need to believe it."
Dora leaned in and kissed him softly
Archie blinked in surprise before leaning into it.
