"Of course, Dad." Sam said, handing Rain to him. "Is Grandpa the name you want to go with? Because we've gotta pick one for Papa too." Sam said. "And I know you sent a picture to Amanda." Sam was so angry at her mother for just leaving. She shouldn't have been surprised, that's a thing her mother did now. "Sending one to Nonna was one thing. But Amanda probably won't even see Rain."
Sam asked one of the nurses for some water, she was thirsty. She wanted a proper cleaning, but all things considered, she knew that she was as clean as she could be. Sam yawned. "I'm so tired, Dad. I think I can last until Papa and Deacon get here, but after that, I'm gonna feed Rain and then sleep."
Her daughter was looking up at her grandfather, her blue eyes wide. She touched his chest, as if feeling for a heartbeat. Then Rain hiccuped, and sneezed. It sounded like a baby sneeze, since it was, and Sam couldn't help but laugh a bit.
"Did you tell Nonna we partly named her after her?"
